Marlene Brandwein (Retired STARS Board Member) & Stephanie Brandwein (Retired STARS Athlete)
A generous donation was made by Marlene and Stephanie in memory of Christine Motyka.
The Elite STARS Family is forever grateful for these generous donations and continued support.
It saddens the STARS Family to share the loss of a 17 year veteran team member, Christine Motyka. She was a gymnast, skater, and part of our AAA program. Christine was born March 18, 1981, in Park Ridge, she passed away suddenly, February 16, 2016 in Elk Grove with her loving Family by her side. She will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched.
We remember and pay tribute to our long time friend and supporter of Elite STARS, Doug Baxter. Doug was Patty's childhood friend and premier supporter of the Hacker's Classic. He was also a very close, dear friend of the D'Avolio and Hermann families. Doug was passionate about helping Patty live her dream with Elite STARS. If you have ever golfed or attended the Hacker's Classic over the past 22 years, you have enjoyed Doug's smile, his laugh and his entire crew that he would bring annually to support our athletes. He supplied us with over 60% of our raffle items annually and took great pride in helping us. Please pray for him and his family. Doug, we will miss you terribly and the Hacker's will never be the same without you.
We are forever grateful for your friendship and support.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to two big supporters of Elite STARS.
Blue Cross Blue Shield.
We received a generous donation from Blue Cross, because they chose to support our mission of providing equal opportunities and expanded services for individuals with special needs.
The Knights of Columbus.
Every year, volunteers made up of STARS athletes and family member alike, help the Knights during their Annual Tootsie Roll Drive. In appreciation for our service, we have received generous donations from four area Councils. The Knights provide support to many agencies for those with intellectual disabilities.
We in the Elite STARS Family are forever grateful to both of these organizations for their recognition and support!

In recognition for Pat's outstanding volunteer efforts in our community, HandsOn Suburban Chicago has appointed a Selection Committee which has selected Pat as a recipient of a 2013 Lead with Experience Award.
Every year HandsOn Suburban Chicago identifies volunteers who deserve special recognition for the
positive impact they have made on the lives of others.
The Lead with Experience Impact Award, sponsored by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), recognizes a volunteer age 55 and better who consistently uses his/her experience and leadership skills to inspire and mobilize others to make a difference.
Way to go Pat!
We are very proud of you and are grateful for your awesome leadership!
Our staff prepared an unbelievable camp filled with intense workouts, crazy activities, and plenty of sweat.
We provided an exceptional coaching staff, filled with certified professionals in all of our sports: gymnastics, cheerleading, skating, and dance as well as fitness specialists.
This year's camp offered a fitness and sport specific track to improve core strength, fitness, tumbling and stunting.
All athletes were given an opportunity to improve themselves over the course of the week, while having a great time achieving new highs. They were all able to maximize potential and develop skills appropriate for all aspects of life. We worked on social development, goal setting, confidence, body awareness, fitness, nutrition, decision making and individual skill development. Each athlete was offered the chance to step outside of the normal scope of training and experience an extensive ELITE training program.
On Saturday, April 21, 2012, the Elite STARS Dance Team
comprised of special needs dancers took the stage for their first
competition of the season at Northside Preparatory High School in
Chicago. Receiving 1 of the 3 "Spirit Awards" from the judges, the team
soared. The team received the "High Score" in their division, "Judges
Top 5 Award" and an amazing standing ovation from a packed venue.
Following the awards ceremony the STARS were approached by the girls
from "Dance Moms" Abby Lee Dance Studio to take pictures. "Dance Moms"
is a reality show on Life Time TV. The show was being filmed during the
competition and will be utilizing various clips from the days'
performances. The Abby Lee Dancers Tweeted about their meet and greet
with the STARS and drew thousands of followers for our program.
Congratulations to all the STARS dancers and their coaches on a great
showing or their first major competition.
